Unsecured Appearance Bond
A type of bail consisting of the accused's written promise to appear in court, coupled with the accused's unsecured promise to pay a specified sum of money if the accused fails to appear as required. Generally, an unsecured appearance bond is used when there is little reason to believe that an accused will not appear as required. It is an alternative to personal recognizance.
