Dictionary of Legal Terms
The revocation (taking away) of an attorney's license to practice law as punishment for certain wrongful acts. In Ohio, unlike some other states, disbarment is for life; there is no possibility of reinstatement. Because of its authority to regulate the practice of law in this state, the Supreme Court of Ohio is in charge of such professional discipline.
