Regulated Utilities : Telephone Consumers' Rights and Protections

Does Ohio have a telephone bill of rights?

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) has adopted a bill of rights for telephone customers in Ohio.

The bill of rights and other consumer protection rules protect consumers and give them legal remedies against:

  • “slamming” or “cramming” customers
  • unreasonable late fees or other charges
  • deceptive pricing or service terms and conditions
  • poor installation or repair service
  • excessive security deposits, and
  • other consumer scams and abuses.
