Regulated Utilities : Choosing a Utility Provider

Do I have a choice in choosing my provider?
With the arrival of utility “deregulation” and “restructuring,” natural gas, electric and telephone consumers sometimes have the option to choose their natural gas supplier, electric supplier, or local or long distance phone company.

“Customer choice” empowers consumers by enabling them to shop around for the best price and service contract. However, many consumers are confused by the choices available to them, and complicated pricing plans and contract terms can make it difficult to comparison shop.
