Termination of Employment : Whistleblowing

What is a whistleblower?

A whistleblower is defined as a person who informs on another or makes public disclosure of corruption or wrongdoing.

What anti-retaliation laws are in place to protect whistleblowers?

Laws which protect workers, such as anti-discrimination employment laws, make it also illegal for employers to retaliate against an employee for reporting a wrongdoing by their employer.

Where can I find out more about whistleblowing and retaliation?

The Workplace Fairness website provides extensive information about whistleblowing and anti-retaliation laws.

If you believe you have experienced whistleblower retaliation, you can contact your local legal aid program to discuss your situation.
