Ohio State Legal Services Association® (OSLSA)

OSLSA is a nonprofit law firm founded in 1966 by the Ohio State Bar Association. It has a direct service component (Southeastern Ohio Legal Services®) and a State Support Center (Ohio Poverty Law Center, LLC).

OSLSA's administrative offices and the Ohio Poverty Law Center are located in Columbus. The direct service offices are located throughout central and southeastern Ohio, covering 30 counties.

OSLSA's direct service component, Southeastern Ohio Legal Services® (SEOLS), provides free legal representation to low-income clients in a number of civil legal problems. SEOLS does not provide criminal defense representation. SEOLS handles public benefits, housing, unemployment compensation, family, consumer, education, employment, health and other matters.

The Ohio Poverty Law Center, LLC, (OPLC) provides assistance to the staff of legal services offices in the six legal services regions in Ohio through policy advocacy, litigation support, training, specialty assistance and consulting, task forces, publications, and other activities. OPLC manages the content on the Ohio Statewide Legal Services Web Site.

OSLSA receives state grants from the Ohio Legal Assistance Foundation and federal grants from the Legal Services Corporation.

OSLSA is governed by a 23-member board of trustees, which includes client-eligible and attorney members.

OSLSA is committed to searching out the patterns, causes, and solutions of the recurring and fundamental legal problems facing its client community, and seeking legal recourse necessary to redress the grievances of its clients, both as a community and as individuals.
