This section will help you find the resources available to you if you, or someone you know, is homeless.

If you need immediate assistance, please dial 211 from any phone. You may also find your local 2-1-1 Information and Referral Service online for information on food, shelter, emergency assistance, housing and other issues.

Legal Education

Document  Know Your Rights Brochure TEMPLATE - This template will allow advocates to insert their local ordinances, then distribute the brochure to persons experiencing homelessness in their community. The Know Your Rights brochure is for persons experiencing homelessness in Ohio. Homeless persons, especially those "living on the land," are more likely to be cited for municipal violations, such as loitering. The Know Your Rights brochure can help homeless persons learn more about their local ordinances, so they are less likely to violate them, as well as recognize when their rights have been violated.

Document  HUD Low-Rent Apartment Search - An easy-to-use tool to finding a low-rent apartment. 

Other Resources
Document  Columbus Coalition for the Homeless - Coalition of service providers, currently and formerly homeless people, and concerned citizens addressing homelessness in Columbus. The Coalition advocates for people experiencing homelessness, educates the community about homelessness, raises awareness through events and media, and provides outreach services to unsheltered homeless persons. 
Document  County Veterans Services Offices - The Governor's Office of Veteran's Affairs lists the contact information for Ohio's county veterans services offices. The county offices can provide EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE for veterans, active duty, spouses, dependents, and surving spouses/dependants who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The offices can also help the veterans apply for entitlements and benefits from the VA.  
Document  Free and Low-Cost Health Clinics in Ohio - A guide to free and low-cost health clinics in Ohio. 
Document  HUD Approved Housing Counseling Agencies - HUD sponsors housing counseling agencies throughout the country that can provide advice on buying a home, renting, defaults, foreclosures, credit issues, and reverse mortgages. This page allows you to select a list of agencies for each state.  
Document  Healthcare for the Homeless Directory - The US Department of Health and Human Services website provides a directory of Healthcare for the Homeless programs across the nation. You can find contact information for clinics and programs in Ohio that provide free healthcare services for the homeless. 
Document  National Coalition for the Homeless - The National Coalition for the Homeless website offers national directories for homeless services and advocacy groups. It also provides reports, publications, and factsheets on homelessness, as well as information on national homeless advocacy efforts.
