- This article from the Ohio State Legal Services Association discusses what to do when child support is late or not being paid.
How Much Child Support Will You Pay?
- Legal guidelines in each state help establish the amount of child support that must be paid to the parent who has primary physical custody of a child (the parent responsible for most aspects of the child's day-to-day care and welfare).
How is Child Support Determined
- In order to establish consistency and predictability in the amount of child support awards, the federal government mandates child support guidelines to be used by the states. The particular guidelines are different in each state.
Modifying Child Support Orders
- This article from the Ohio State Legal Services Association offers general advice on how to increase, decrease, or terminate child support orders.
Reducing Support
- When a child reaches the age of majority (usually eighteen) or graduates high school, that normally is a basis for stopping child support for that child, unless the parent is obliged to help pay for that child's college education.
